Contributors will consist of 40 page artists, 10 merch artists, and 10 writers

Discriminatory behavior, including, but not limited to, transphobia, homophobia, racism and whitewashing, and sexism will not be tolerated. You will be rejected or removed from the project without hesitation.

Moderators must be 18+, and contributors must be 16+. Though discussions and depictions of sexuality and anatomy are permitted due to the topic, absolutely no NSFW content is allowed in this project. Samples, portfolios, and any content within the server may not include NSFW content. You will be rejected or removed immediately.

Contributors’ pieces may depict struggles with internalized and externalized transphobia, but please be very cautious and considerate of others in doing so. Slurs and other explicit instances of hate-based violence will not be permitted.

Ace Attorney-levels of violence and gore are permitted.

Nonsexual, implied nudity is permitted, as well as similarly anatomical topics including, but not necessarily limited to, periods, packers, and surgery. Please avoid any obscene discussion of genitalia, and due to our zine being by and for mixed-ages, we cannot allow visual depictions of full nudity. If you have any concerns with your topic, we encourage you to explore with the mods on a case-by-case basis to properly convey your trans experiences.

All final pieces must be created originally for this project within the project’s timeframe and remain within the server until the zine’s official release! Do not share your or anyone else’s work with those outside of the project!

NFT and AI generative art or writing will not be tolerated in any capacity.

Contributors are required to join our Discord server, where all communication will take place. While you are not required to be an active participant in conversation, you must submit your required check-ins and other requirements by mods in a timely manner.

The mods are here to help! Please communicate with the mods immediately if you are in need of an extension or drop from the project.

Page artists will be expected to create one page, spread, or comic of 1–4 pages focusing on at least one transgender character. Pieces must be fully rendered with a background, submitted in RGB color profile and 300 DPI in A5 format.

Traditional artists will be expected to scan or photograph their pieces in high quality and correct speculations. No shadows, glares, or irregular lighting and cropping will be permitted.

Merch artists will be expected to create at least one digital merch item assigned by the mods, featuring at least one transgender character. Pieces must be fully colored, except for coloring pages, submitted in RGB color profile and 300 DPI in sizing format that will vary on your assigned item.

Our charity merch artist will be expected to create one physical merch item assigned by the mods, featuring at least one transgender character. Piece must be fully colored, submitted in CMYK color profile and 300 DPI in sizing format provided by the mod team.

Writers will be expected to create one fully-contained fiction work of 2k to 2.5k words focusing on at least one transgender character. Any writers creating short form content may be required to make multiple pieces in accordance to the zine’s word count. Pieces must be titled and submitted as a document.

Applicants must be 16+ or have turned 16 by the time applications have concluded.

You may not submit NSFW or suggestive works in your samples or your portfolio. Samples of gore and violence are permitted; contributor applicants will be required to provide content warnings where necessary.

Ace Attorney samples are encouraged, but not required, to apply.

Social media accounts, including Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, DeviantArt, and AO3 are not permissible for portfolios. Please select and submit your work through a file sharing service, personal website, or other methods.

All links to your samples and portfolio must be accessible to the mod team. For those using Google Drive and Google Documents, your links must be set so that anyone with the link may view.

Failure to follow general or role-specific application guidelines may result in immediate rejection, so please be warned.

Artist applications will require 3 completed artworks as samples of your work, with your portfolio as supplementary content.

Portfolios must contain a minimum of 5 of your best and complete works, and at least 1 must contain a background– no flat colors, gradients, or real-life images. Your portfolio may include your samples.

Applications will be judged based on composition, backgrounds, anatomy, color, and lighting.

Artist applications will require 3 completed artworks as samples of your work, with your portfolio as supplementary content.

Portfolios must contain a minimum of 5 of your best and complete works, and at least 1 must use the style intended for your desired merchandise. Your portfolio may include your samples.

Samples including previous merchandise designs are encouraged, but not required, to apply.

Applications will be judged based on style and stylization, design, anatomy, and color.

Writer applications will require 3 written works from approximately 1k–2.5k words provided as samples of your work, with your portfolio as supplementary content.

Portfolios must contain a minimum of 5 of your best works that are at least 1k words in length. Excerpts are permitted, but at least 1 must be fully complete and self-contained. Your portfolio may include your samples.

For those desiring to create alternative forms of writing, samples including this style are encouraged, but not required, to apply.

Applications will be judged based on narrative execution, pacing, characterization, grammar, and clarity.

Is there an age minimum for applicants?

All contributors must be 16 years or older by the time applications have concluded.

Can I apply for multiple roles?

Yes, of course! However, you will only be accepted for one role.

What counts as a portfolio?

A portfolio is a collection of at least 5 of your best complete works. You may use file sharing sites such as Google Drive or Dropbox, a presentation file, a personal website, etc., but please make sure your method is completely accessible to the mod team to view and review. Social media accounts such as Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, DeviantArt, and AO3 are not permissible as portfolios.

What kind of works can I create?

Page artists may choose between single pages, a spread, or a single to multipage comic based on a character or characters of their choosing. Writers may choose between standard oneshots, or alternative methods including letters and journals, poetry, or a collection of drabble based on a character or characters of their choosing. Merch artists will be assigned their merchandise item(s) upon acceptance, to create based on a character or characters of their choosing.

Is (this identity) for (this character) allowed?

We encourage a whole range of headcanons for a whole range of characters! So long as this depiction isn’t harmful, (see Recipe for Turnabout’s Jean Armstrong), all headcanons are welcome. Harassment based on differing opinions will not be tolerated.

Are ships allowed?

Ships are permitted, but one or more characters' gender experiences must maintain focus. However, proship: attorney x assistant and other age gaps, incest, and pedophilia, is prohibited with immediate rejection.

Will the new AAI2 names be used?

All zine contributions pertaining to AAI2 will be maintaining the fan translation names due to their greater recognizability.

Can/will mods contribute?

If they would like to! But their participation will not detract from the available spots we’re looking for during contributor applications.

How many contributors are you accepting?

We’re looking for around 60 contributors: 40 page artists, 10 merch artists, and 10 writers.

Is gore and violence allowed?

Yes, you’re permitted to include Ace Attorney levels of gore and violence in your portfolios and zine work. You will be asked to provide content warnings in your application where necessary.

How will contributors be compensated?

Unfortunately, as this is a free and digital project, contributors cannot be paid for their time and work. Any profits from our physical merchandise will be donated directly to an LGBTQ charity foundation, but we fully intend to provide contributors with the product for free or at manufacturing cost as profits allow. We hope you understand.
